Deshun Deysel is no stranger to awards and accolades. As one of South Africa’s leading female motivational speakers, recipient of Four Outstanding Young South African’s Award (FOYSA) in 1997 and a Friend and Ambassador for the Laureus Sports for Good Foundation, she is a well respected speaker across the world.
She has also been up Mount Everest twice, the first time as one of the members of the very first South African expedition to Everest. Speaking about the climb Deshun says “When you climb Everest everything, including your sanity, is confronted. Your being is tested on all levels and the mountain peels away at your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual layers until very little is left unexposed. In addition the female physiology adds to the difficulty in coping with the extreme conditions on big mountains.”
Deshun Deysel joined the I Can Foundation in 1996 and ran youth development workshops and women’s training programmes for two years. She then spent six years with The Pacific Institute SA as a process facilitator and accreditor and also as a conference speaker at The Pacific Institute, USA. Deshun’s consulting skills have been honed through interventions with both multinationals and South African Top 100 companies.
Clearly, a woman who can climb literal summits can also climb some serious professional ladders. As a member of National Speakers Association of South Africa (NSASA) Deshun’s motivational talk will definitely be something to look forward to. She will be sharing her tips on “Balancing Professional Performance with the Rest of your Life” with you at the Working Mothers Expo at 1:30pm on Friday 4 November. Don’t miss this inspirational woman’s advice on how to tackle the summits life presents you with.
The Working Mothers Expo, brought to you in partnership with MiWayLife, brings together everything working mothers need under one roof. 4-6 November 2016. Sandton Convention Centre. Meet our MCs, Elana Afrika and Claire Mawisa, at the Speakers Corner.
