The Wacky Box, brought to you by the Educational Box Company, aims to support, promote and empower parents in South Africa, and to give them the ability and opportunity to spend quality time with their kids, despite their busy lives.
The Educational Box Company had its origins as a toddler stimulation group named Woelwater in the small town of Heidelberg, with four mothers and four toddlers and a goofy presenter with a very big heart: Nicolene Steyn, their founder, noticed that the moms in town had very little resources and she wanted to provide them with the opportunity to actually execute all the wonderful ideas they would like to, as well as have a social event where the moms could bond and support each other. Before long the programme grew to four classes per week of different ages. Nicolene did the reading and preparations for a new theme each week, and figured out what works, and which ideas should only remain ideas… She gained enormous experience in what both mothers and toddlers want, need and like.
After Nicolene and her family moved to the big city of Johannesburg, there were numerous requests for Woelwater classes. In our busy lives, parents need to specifically create quality time with their kids. Experiences create memories, and with so little time available, parents need to make the most of them. Therefore she again saw the need, and decided to re-think the Woelwater classes. She created The Educational Box Company, and started packaging the classes into a box (Woelwater and Wacky Box) to be sent to moms everywhere.
Every Wacky Box is filled to the brim with 12 -14 activities and experiences, all creative and new, unique to each theme. The activities are tried and tested on each age group, and comes with an instruction booklet that gives the parent quick instructions on how to create the experience, as well as tips for cleaning up or containing messes. The activities are completely balanced and include all the necessary skills to be developed. The activities inspire fine motor and gross motor development, sensory play, as well as love for art and music.
The Educational Box Company prides themselves on the fact that they do not send toys that are only going to clutter your home and that the child is going to grow out of eventually. Each box is designed to be completely used up by the end of the month. Even the packaging material and the actual box will be used, and can be thrown away, not causing clutter in your home.
Now they distribute this wonderful product countrywide and were featured in the Beleef section of Rapport of 4 September 2016. Boxes cover ages 4 months to 4 years and expanding. Orders can be placed online. Costs are R298 per month for a 3 month subscription, R283 for 6 months. Courier costs are included.
